Stipends and bursaries

A limited number of stipends (funding you can apply for, if eligible) are available to help cover registration, travel, accommodation, and/or other expenses associated with attending the 2023 London Colloquium. 

Cochrane UK Consumer Stipends

Cochrane UK is funding the opportunity for two patients, carers, or patient advocates who live in the UK to attend Cochrane London 2023. 

Applicants must:

  • be living in the UK
  • be either: 
    • a patient, or someone with personal experience of a health condition 
    • a caregiver or family member who is involved with someone with a health condition 
    • someone who represents (or advocates for) patients and carers 
  • have an interest in healthcare research (but not necessarily prior experience)

If you need to be accompanied by a carer in order to attend, the prize can also cover their registration fees and reasonable expenses.

TDR stipends

TDR, the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases, is a global programme of scientific collaboration that helps facilitate, support and influence efforts to combat diseases of poverty It is co-sponsored by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank and the World Health Organization (WHO).

TDR is offering a limited number of bursaries for applications from researchers wishing to participate in the Cochrane London Colloquium, based on the following criteria:

  • Living and working in a LMIC.
  • Attached to a university or public health institute.
  • Contribution to the Colloquium programme by presenting a session or a poster
  • Applicants not presenting are also encouraged to apply

Cochrane Consumer Stipends 

Cochrane is committed to the active involvement of consumers and consumer advocates in doing, disseminating, and implementing systematic reviews as well as furthering the aims of Cochrane.

Stipends are to help cover travel costs and/or other expenses associated with attending the Colloquium and are available for consumers who are active Cochrane contributors or in a position to become an active contributor.

Funds are limited, so applicants should explore partial or full funding options from other sources, such as your local consumer or self-help group, or the Cochrane Group with which you are involved.

Cochrane LMIC/UMIC Stipends

Cochrane is committed to promoting and supporting active Cochrane members from low-, lower-middle-, and upper-middle-income countries (LMIC and UMIC).

Stipends are to help cover travel costs and/or other expenses associated with attending the Colloquium. 

Funds are limited, so if you can find some or all the money you need from another source (such as the Cochrane Group with which you are involved or your institution), please do so.
